The National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) are ramping up efforts to ensure better enforcement of third-party motor insurance across Nigeria. The move aims to improve road safety and ensure compliance with mandatory insurance policies for vehicle owners.
As part of this initiative, both agencies have agreed to share data and enhance digital verification of insurance policies to curb the rising cases of fake insurance documents. By integrating their databases, FRSC officials will have real-time access to valid insurance records, making it easier to identify non-compliant motorists during routine checks.
NAICOM has reiterated its commitment to eliminating fake insurance operators and ensuring that vehicle owners benefit from the protection that third-party insurance provides. The commission has also urged motorists to obtain their policies only from licensed insurers to avoid falling victim to fraud.

The FRSC, on its part, emphasized that valid third-party insurance is crucial for covering damages or injuries caused by insured vehicles to third parties. The agency has warned that violators caught without valid insurance will face legal consequences.
This strengthened collaboration is expected to bring greater accountability and financial security to road users while reinforcing the importance of compliance with insurance laws in Nigeria.
