Angry members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State deserted the party after the party’s primaries, and the state’s Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ibrahim Abdullahi, has urged the new leadership of the party to bring them back.
The speaker claimed this is in the best interest of the party and the growth of the country as a whole.
On Monday, Abdullahi led a delegation of APC House members to Lafia to congratulate the party’s newly elected officials.

Governor Abdullahi Sule and the other party leaders in the state, he said, deserve praise for choosing Aliyu Bello to serve as party chairman and Yarus Dagusa as party secretary.
The speaker explained that the APC was still reeling from the crisis caused by the party primaries.
To strengthen our party and prepare for upcoming elections, I strongly recommend recruiting back disgruntled former members.
We have faith in your potential to succeed since you possess all the resources necessary. You are the best candidate to lead our great party, the APC, to the next stage of its evolution at this time.
Mr. Chairman, we are all aware that some members of the party resigned after the primary election because they felt they had been treated unfairly.
They defected in order to run for office with another party. I’m writing to ask that you help us win back all the disaffected party members who have defected.
Abdullahi argued that the APC is the people’s party and that no matter the cost, the party’s former grandeur must be reclaimed.
He promised his allegiance and the party’s continued backing to the new leadership.
The speaker also urged the opposition to help Sule’s government prosper.
The Governorship Election Petition Tribunal hearing is over, and he said, “I have no doubt in my mind that victory is ours.”
The state’s residents were urged to back the current government so that they, too, might reap the benefits of democracy.
Aliyu Bello, chairman of the APC in the state, responded positively to the speaker and the other guests.
Mr Speaker, you set the bar high by becoming the first person in the state’s history to be elected to the position of speaker three times.
The party “holds you and other members of the House in high esteem,” the chairman stated.
Bello said he was relieved that the state legislature’s leadership problem had been settled peacefully.
The APC chairman expressed his willingness to settle differences inside the party.
However, he urged the legislators to collaborate for the greater good of the state and offered his support in working with them.
