Omu-Aran branch of Nasirul-lahi-li-fathi Society of Nigeria (NASFAT) in Kwara, yesterday, honoured sixteen distinguished personalities with merit awards. The beneficiaries cut across all spheres of human endeavours, including businessmen and women, civil servants, medical practitioners, religious leaders as well community leaders.
Each awardee was presented with a copy of the Holy Qur’an and an award plaque at the occasion.
The association’s branch Chairman, Mallam Abdulraheem Tajudeen, said the gesture was meant to spur the award recipients to do more in their contribution to Islamic religion and the larger society.
“I want to thank the Almighty Allah for the awardees of today as you are being recognised and appreciated when you are still alive.
“I hope the award will make you to contribute more to Islam and mankind in general,” he said.
Tajudeen, who solicited for assistance for the building of the association’s mosque and establishment of NASFAT Nursery and Primary School, said the association was facing financial constraints.
Alhaji Mustapha Abdusalam, the branch Chief Missioner, in a sermon urged wealthy individuals to imbibe the spirit of philanthropy by donating generously to the cause of Allah.
He urged the rich to assist the needy and the less privileged in the society for them to leave a comfortable life.
“This is the righteous path and the only way to attract God’s favour and blessings,” he said.
Speaking on behalf of the awardees, Alhaji Abdusalam Ten-Ten, thanked the association for the recognition and promised to live up to the expectation.
“I want to say that we appreciate this unprecedented recognition by NASFAT Omu-Aran branch and we will not let the association and the community down,” Ten-Ten said.
