Wande Coal MavinThe National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has fined a radio station in Jos for playing songs on its banned list that includes Wande Coal’s ‘Iskaba’, Falz’s ‘This is Nigeria’ and Olamide’s ‘See Mary, See Jesus’.

This was conveyed in a letter dated August 6th, 2018 and addressed to the Chief Executive Officer, JODAJ Global Communications Limited, Jos, owners of Jay FM 101.9.

The letter which was shared by popular Lagos based radio personality, Folaranmi Folayan states varying reasons for the fine ranging from ‘vulgar and indecent lyrics’ in contravention of the body’s regulations.

In the letter, it confirmed that the controversial song by Falz, ‘This is Nigeria’, which generated a number of reactions following its release including an ultimatum from the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) group had already been banned.
