The Bayelsa State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged Governor Douye Diri to embrace an inclusive leadership style that prioritises the interests of Bayelsans over political considerations, with a focus on policies that promote sustainable development, economic growth and improved welfare for residents.
Speaking with journalists in Yenagoa, the State Chairman of the NDC, Hon. Dauprebo Ikuromo, called on the Bayelsa State Government to refrain from allegedly offering financial inducements to NDC aspirants in a bid to create divisions within the party.

Ikuromo maintained that no form of inducement would distract the NDC from its objective of taking over governance in the state.
According to him, resources allegedly earmarked for such purposes should instead be directed toward addressing pressing developmental challenges in the state, including concerns over commissioned but non-operational gas turbines.
Reacting to reports of dissatisfaction within the party, the NDC chairman disclosed that a comprehensive grievance redress mechanism had been established under the leadership of former Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson.
He added that the party’s National Executive Council would release the list of candidates for various elective positions within the timeframe stipulated by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Ikuromo also commended the party’s national leader, Senator Dickson, for his conduct during the NDC primary elections, describing his leadership as exemplary.
He said Dickson managed the primary election process across the country with fairness, tact and wisdom, ensuring equal opportunities for all aspirants.
The NDC chairman further praised the party’s commitment to youth and women inclusion during the primaries, noting that the initiative aligns with the principles of affirmative action and broader political participation.
According to him, such policies are essential for building a stronger and more inclusive political movement.
He, however, called on party members and supporters across Bayelsa State to remain united and focused on the party’s goal of taking over governance from what he described as a ruling party that had failed the people.
