The newly elected Abia State Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was inaugurated at the party secretariat in Umuahia, following the administration of the oath of office to the new officers.
The inauguration ceremony was conducted by the PDP’s legal adviser, Ukpai Ukairo, who administered the oath of allegiance to the committee members.
In his address, the newly sworn-in state chairman, Abraham Amah, expressed confidence that the new administration would bring a fresh direction to the PDP in Abia State, with a focus on reclaiming power in the 2027 elections.

He emphasized the committee’s commitment to making necessary sacrifices to achieve this goal.
Amah also unveiled plans to establish a shadow government to hold the current administration accountable, ensuring that it delivers quality governance.
Additionally, he announced that the PDP will soon form its Elders’ Council, led by Chief Onyema Ugochukwu, to strengthen the party’s structure and enhance its readiness for the 2027 elections.
According to Amah, several former PDP members have shown interest in rejoining the party, and those who contested against him have offered their congratulations, signaling unity within the party.
Key members of the new State Working Committee include Gabriel Elendu (Vice Chairman, Abia North), Patrick Onwuka (Vice Chairman, Abia Central), and Chinyere Onuoha, among others.
