In a closely watched election held in Abuja on Monday, the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has elected a new chairman, marking a shift in leadership.
Yabagi Yusuf Sani, who served as both the National Chairman of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) and IPAC, will be stepping down, making way for Alhaji Yusuf Dantalle.
The election, which witnessed a keen contest, unfolded between the incumbent, Yusuf Sani, and Dantalle.

Ultimately, Dantalle secured victory with 10 votes, while Yusuf Sani garnered eight votes.
Declaring the results, the electoral chairman, Dan Nwayanwu, officially announced Dantalle as the new chairman of IPAC and the national chairman of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
Speaking to reporters after his victory, Dantalle expressed his commitment to taking IPAC to the next level, assuring that he would lead the council sincerely with a focus on advancing women in politics.
“I will take the council to the next level. I will do it sincerely between me and God,” Dantalle stated.
He also emphasized his determination to elevate women’s participation in politics during his tenure.
In a gracious acknowledgment of the election outcome, Yusuf Sani accepted defeat and extended congratulations to Dantalle.
He pledged to collaborate with the new chairman and the incoming leadership of IPAC, fostering unity and cooperation within the political council.
