Danlamin Abdullahi Saku, Chairman of Katcha Local Government Area in Niger State, was attacked and beaten by hoodlums following his alleged failure to settle a debt of over N1 million owed to a creditor.
InfoStride News reports that the incident occurred on Sunday when Alhaji Yanda, from whom the chairman borrowed the money, sent a group of boys to deliver a message demanding repayment.
Instead of addressing the demand, Saku reportedly slapped one of the boys, which led to a fight during which he was beaten severely.

Sources reveal that Saku was rushed to the General Hospital in Katcha and later referred to an undisclosed hospital for further medical attention.
A party insider, who requested anonymity, stated that the attackers were actually supporters of Saku’s party, frustrated over his refusal to repay the debt which had been used to fund his political campaign.
Prior to the incident, it was reported that Saku’s vehicle had been seized by his creditors and only returned after intervention from local party leaders.
Confirming the incident, Niger State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, said, “On June 16, 2024, information was received at Katcha Division that Chairman Katcha LGA, Hon. Danlamin Abdullahi Saku, was attacked by miscreants along Saku-Gaza village after the Sallah prayer in his village Saku, Katcha LGA.
The attack is allegedly linked to a debt issue between the Chairman and one Alhaji Yanda of the same area.”
Abiodun added that the chairman sustained serious injuries and was taken to General Hospital Bida before being referred for further treatment.
“Preliminary investigation is ongoing at Katcha Division, and efforts are being intensified to apprehend the miscreants responsible for the assault,” he further stated.
