The Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Kabiru Taminu Turaki has promised the Federal Government of Nigeria’s support for the partnership venture between the National Lottery Regulatory Commission and the Lotterie Nationale du Niger.
He made this promise when the Director -General of the Lotterie Nationale du Niger, Talata Rhamatuo visited him in Abuja, accompanied by the Director- General and management of the National Lottery Regulatory Commission.
According to Kabiru Turaki, the Ministry will ensure the nurturing of the relationship for the benefit of Nigeria and Niger. He added that the President of Nigeria is ready to open up the lottery business in Nigeria to grow funds and create employment. He revealed further that the strategic partnership between the two countries in the area of lottery business will deepen Nigeria’s knowledge and understanding of the business.
He explained that the Nigerien delegation were in Nigeria to study how the Lottery Regulatory Authorities in the two countries can work together, to introduce Nigeria to the Africa Lottery Association as well as intimate her of its coming election slated for Dakar, Senegal in March. ‘The relationship, he said was established three years ago by the Lottery Regulatory Authorities of Nigeria and Niger when the National Lottery Regulatory Commission visited Niger as it now being consolidated by the return visit of Talata Rhamatuo.
It is also worthy of note that the Nigerien delegation had shortly paid a joint working visit to the National Lottery Regulatory Commission and the National Lottery Trust Fund in the United Kingdom to see how it operates.
