The Zone C Federal Operations Unit of the Nigeria Customs Service has announced that it recorded seizures worth N5,351,826,390 during the 2023 fiscal year.
The zone’s comptroller, Kayode Kolade, attributed these significant seizures to the hard work, resilience, dedication to duty, and commitment of the officers.
He made these remarks while decorating recently promoted officers.

The seized items included pangolin scales, foreign parboiled rice, Cannabis sativa, counterfeit pharmaceutical products, tramadol, used vehicles, tyres, clothing, and raw materials for explosives, among others.
Addressing the 49 newly promoted officers, which included three Assistant Comptrollers of Customs, five Chief Superintendents of Customs, three Superintendents of Customs, two Deputy Superintendents of Customs, and eight Inspectors of Customs, among others, Kolade emphasized the need for them to maintain high standards and continue to justify the confidence placed in them.
“New rank comes with new and more responsibility, and we must deliver on our mandate,” Kolade stated.
He also emphasized the importance of adapting to changes in duty assignments and improving performance to meet the Service’s target of N5.7 trillion for the year.
The Nigeria Customs Service Zone C remains committed to its mandate of enforcing customs laws and regulations, ensuring compliance, and contributing to national security and economic development.
