The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has announced the immediate suspension of the operations of the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), a community policing initiative and public relations tool within the Force Public Relations Department.
This decision, communicated through a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumiyiwa Adejobi, is part of a strategic effort aimed at conducting a comprehensive review of the unit and repositioning it for increased efficiency and enhanced service delivery.
According to the statement released on Thursday via the NPF’s official handle, the suspension is necessary to facilitate a holistic assessment of POCACOV and its restructuring to better address contemporary security challenges.

The Force recognizes the need to halt all pending programs and outreaches initiated by the current national coordinator, CSP Ebere Amarizu, to facilitate this review process.
The temporary suspension seeks to realign POCACOV’s strategies across the six geopolitical zones, with each zone having its respective coordinator.
This restructuring aims to enhance the effectiveness of the initiative in tackling security issues and serving Nigerian communities.
The NPF reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the nation, emphasizing the revitalization of POCACOV as an integral community policing instrument.
Updates regarding the resumption of POCACOV programs and outreach activities will be communicated to the public as the Force continues to prioritize safety, security, and community partnership.
The NPF assures the public that the temporary suspension is part of efforts to strengthen the bond between the Force and communities, ensuring a safer and more secure environment for all Nigerians.
