National Chairman of the All Progressives Change (APC), Chief John Odigie Oyegun, yesterday accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led government of nearly emptying the treasury of the country.
He said the nation’s economy was at the brink of collapse but that the APC-led government will embark on rigorous economic development for a new Nigeria by May 29.
Oyegun, who made these startling revelation at the 7th commencement ceremony at the American University of Nigeria (AUN), Yola, Adamawa State, therefore called on young Nigerians to support the party to achieve greatness.
“We as a people, as a nation, are going through very difficult times. The economy of this nation is near a state of collapse. The treasury of this nation is very near exhausted. These are hard times. And when the times are hard, the tough gets going.
“You are going to join us in proffering solution to the new direction, the new trajectory on which this nation is going to embark from May 29, 2015”, he assured.
Chief Oyegun urged the graduates to be agents of change for new Nigeria, saying APC-led government will open more doors of job opportunities for the younger generation.
He said: “You are joining the Nigerian community to start your various professions at a significant period in the nation’s history. You are graduates of change, and you are going to be agents of change. I am urging you to be good ambassadors of AUN and Nigeria as whole.
“I want you to become agents of the new Nigeria. I want to assure you that Nigeria is waiting for you, and the APC is going to from the very minute it comes into office, start opening the doors of opportunity for you all”.
