The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has scheduled May 26, 2026, for the conduct of its primary elections for all elective positions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party said the primaries would cover the House of Assembly, governorship, National Assembly, and presidential positions.
In a statement issued on Monday in Abuja, the NNPP National Publicity Secretary, Ladipo Johnson, disclosed that the party would adopt the consensus mode of selection across all wards nationwide.

According to him, the timetable has already been communicated to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Johnson further revealed that INEC recently conducted a verification exercise of the party’s administrative and operational structures at its national secretariat in Abuja, describing the process as successful.
“The seamless execution of this exercise serves as a definitive official validation of the Hon. Bala Mohammed-led National Working Committee (NWC),” he said.
He added that the development reaffirms the legitimacy of the current leadership and dismisses claims by expelled members challenging the authority of the NWC.
Johnson described ongoing legal challenges by aggrieved factions as “shadow-boxing,” insisting that a subsisting judgment of the Federal High Court in Abuja had already affirmed that the individuals were no longer members of the party.
“By failing to bring this judgment to the attention of subsequent courts, they have deliberately withheld material facts to mislead the judiciary,” he stated.
He expressed confidence that the Supreme Court would ultimately resolve the leadership dispute in favour of the current NWC.
The NNPP spokesman also called on Nigerians, particularly youths and professionals, to participate in the party’s ongoing membership registration exercise across the 8,809 wards and 774 local government areas nationwide.
