The National Secretary of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Dipo Olayoku, has hailed the recent Supreme Court judgment affirming the election of Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State as a restoration of hope for the state’s people.
Speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Friday, Olayoku described the judgment as a confirmation of NNPP’s victory in the March 18, 2023, election.
He urged politicians to seek victory through legitimate means, emphasizing the importance of elections conducted via the ballot box.
As the Deputy National Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Olayoku called on the judiciary to uphold truth and fairness.
He asserted that the judgment was expected, given NNPP’s performance in the elections, where they secured significant victories across various levels of government in Kano State.
Highlighting NNPP’s success in the presidential election, senatorial seats, and House of Assembly seats, Olayoku emphasized that the party’s victory in the governorship election was decisive.
He thanked the Supreme Court for restoring the people’s hope and called for adherence to democratic principles in future elections.
The Supreme Court’s decision has been perceived as a significant development in Kano State’s political landscape, with implications for future electoral processes in the region.
