The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano State has announced that it has reached a mutual understanding with the families of the two late members of the Kano State House of Assembly on how the vacant seats will be filled.
The state chairman of the party, Dr. Hashim Sulaiman Dungurawa, disclosed this in an interview with DCL Hausa.

According to Dungurawa, the agreement followed extensive consultations led by the party’s national leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
He said Kwankwaso met with key party stakeholders and members of the bereaved families at his residence in Kano, where discussions were held on the way forward.
“There is understanding and respect on all sides. We sat down, talked frankly, and agreed on the process,” Dungurawa said.
He explained that the party is optimistic that Sa’ad Aminu Sa’ad and Nabil Aliyu Daneji, who are being considered as replacements, would uphold the standards and public service legacy of their late fathers.
“We believe they will continue the legacy of service and dedication their fathers were known for,” he added.
The two lawmakers died on December 24, 2025, after battling separate illnesses, leaving vacant seats in the Kano State House of Assembly.
Dungurawa stressed that the NNPP is committed to ensuring a smooth and respectful replacement process in line with the law, noting that all necessary steps would comply with party regulations and electoral guidelines.
