The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has emerged victorious in all 44 local government chairmanship seats and 484 councillorship positions contested in the just-concluded local council elections in Kano State.
The results were announced by the Chairman of the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC), Professor Sani Lawan Malumfashi, on Saturday. Malumfashi disclosed that six political parties, including AA, AAC, Accord, ADC, APM, and NNPP, participated in the election.
He emphasized that KANSIEC fulfilled its constitutional mandate by organizing, planning, and conducting the elections across the state.

“The exercise has been largely peaceful and successful in all ramifications.
The Commission deeply appreciates the roles played by critical stakeholders, including security agencies, media organizations, political party leaders, civil society organizations, religious and community leaders, as well as youth and women organizations, in the realization of grassroots democracy,” Malumfashi said.
He further expressed gratitude to the people of Kano for their cooperation and support.
“The Commission is profoundly grateful to the good people of Kano State for their collective support, prayers, and positive emotions towards the success of the election,” he added.
Malumfashi noted that the peaceful conduct of the election reflects the public’s trust in the credibility and fairness of the process.
The sweeping victory solidifies NNPP’s influence in Kano, where the party continues to dominate the political landscape at both the state and local levels.
