Kevin de Bruyne agent insists his client has not decided on his future, despite the Wolfsburg midfielder being made to say he is not leaving the German club at an awards ceremony.
De Bruyne was being interviewed on stage at the Sport-Bild Award in Hamburg, Germany having being named Lower Saxony’s footballer of the year for 2015.
The Belgium international was asked to repeat after the host of the event that “I, Kevin de Bruyne, will definitely play this season at Wolfsburg.”
Speaking to the BBC Sport, an infuriated Patrick de Koster says no decision has been made on De Bruyne’s future.
Manchester City are preparing a bid in excess of £40m for the former Chelsea player, who joined the Wolves in January 2014.
Wolfsburg director of sport Klaus Allofs has said the German club are awaiting a substantial offer for De Bruyne but says they are not under pressure to sell.
“We are not a club who needs transfer revenue,” Allofs told sport1.de. “If an offer does come in, though, we will discuss it seriously because we cannot ignore the player’s interest.”
