The Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has been urged by the Minister of Works, David Umahi, not to appeal the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal’s ruling that confirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s victory.
He said as much to reporters after paying a visit to Ebonyi State Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru in his new digs in the state capital of Abakaliki, Centenary City.
“I advised him (Obi) not to go to appeal,” the ex-governor of Ebonyi State remarked. I don’t have any legal training at all. This is my son, the lawyer. He has explained the ruling and closed all possible avenues of recourse.
Umahi also called on the political heavy hitters in the South-East geopolitical zone to unite behind the Tinubu administration.
Let the South East unite in backing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, he said; “he made us the number one minister, even when we didn’t vote very well for him.”
After saying, “Tinubu would be a wonderful President,” Umahi continued, “Before today, God told me that Tinubu will be Nigeria’s President. My petition was heard by God. The going was arduous in the South and East, but by God’s grace, we made it.
Umahi praised Governor Nwifuru for the state’s progress in the areas of empowerment and development during his first 100 days in office and pledged his support for him going forward.
We made the right choice in inviting Governor Nwifuru. There have been ex-governors who have been forbidden from returning to their homes. however at this very moment I am safely inside my own house. I couldn’t be happier with how I met him,” he said.
