A close ally of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ibrahim Masari, has said that Nigerians who voted for the president in the 2023 general elections have no reason to regret their decision.
Masari stated this during an interview with the BBC while reflecting on Tinubu’s performance as his administration clocks two years in office.
“Anyone who voted for President Tinubu between himself and God has no regrets,” Masari asserted.

He said despite the economic hardship facing many Nigerians, the Tinubu administration has recorded notable achievements, particularly in the areas of security and economic reform.
One of the key highlights of Tinubu’s administration, Masari noted, is the removal of fuel subsidy — a decision he described as bold, necessary, and long overdue.
“Past presidents wanted to do it but couldn’t. He did it because of how much of the country’s money was being wasted,” he said.
Masari explained that the funds previously allocated to fuel and electricity subsidies are now being redirected toward critical development projects across the country. According to him, this has enhanced the capacity of both the federal and state governments to deliver on their responsibilities.
He acknowledged the prevailing economic challenges but insisted that the president’s policy decisions are geared toward laying the foundation for a more stable and prosperous Nigeria in the long term.
