Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola has come out to admit that the transfer market has undergone a transition after Saudi Arabia tempted Riyad Mahrez into making a big-money move. He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, it is very clear that Saudi Arabia has changed the market since Cristiano Ronaldo made the move to the country after his failed second stint at MUFC.
Pep added that nobody thought several top players would be tempted to move as well until it started happening this summer.
His words, “We are not looking for a replacement of Riyad in terms of skill because every player is different.”
“Saudi Arabia has changed the market. A few months ago, when Cristiano [Ronaldo] was the only one to go, no one thought this many top, top players would play in the Saudi league.”
“In the future there will be more and that’s why clubs need to be aware of what is happening. Riyad got an incredible offer [from Al-Ahli] and that’s why we could not say ‘don’t do it’.”
