nmasThe 2014 (annual) Nollywood Movies Awards (NMAs) is once again here and will take place

    on Saturday 18th

The NMAs is dedicated exclusively to Nollywood, the pride of Nigeria. This annual event

promises to be, once again, a befitting tribute to the best and the brightest of our ever-
growing industry in its third edition. Two years ago, it was described by one journalist as

“Nigeria’s own Oscars”, and it is determined to once again put on an event which can be

shown to the world with pride. This year’s edition which is in commemoration of the 100th

year of Nigeria’s amalgamation is “the centenary edition”, themed “100% Nigerian, 100%

    Nollywood”.

The winners will be selected following a lengthened and meticulous process which started

9 months ago when a call for entries of movies was made by the NMAs. Subsequently a

thirteen-man international panel of judges comprising of individuals with a wide range of

film-related skills and interests swung into action, and this birthed the official ‘Nominees List’

On the NMAs night, an array of big wigs from entertainment, sports and the corporate world

will grace the event in all their pageantry. The event will be hosted by a thrilling quartet

comprising of the inimitable comedian Gordons, two of Nollywood’s most glamorous ladies

Dakore Akande and Uru Eke and topping it off is the ladies’ favourite, Gideon Okeke of

    Tinsel.

As part of its capacity-building initiative, the NMAs is set to engage the expertise of

international stars to share skills and insights with the Nigerian film and TV community. To

this end, in partnership with the UK Trade & Investment (UKTI), British Council, Enterprise

Creative, FMA Productions, Tenneh Productions and Hatch Africa, the NMAs is facilitating

a four-day training program in courses such as film production, acting and screen writing,

award winning British playwright, scriptwriter and producer.

The event will be broadcast live to millions on the NTA, Silverbird TV, the Africa Movie

Channel, Nollywood Movies TV, Vox Africa and OHTV. Live internet streaming will

be available via PULSE NG and the UN1TY app and will also be broadcast live on radio
