The North-Central All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum has issued a stern warning to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, to desist from allegedly orchestrating attacks on Benue State Governor, Rev. Hyacinth Alia.
In a statement released on Saturday after a meeting in Abuja, the Forum accused Akume of using proxies and faceless groups to launch media campaigns aimed at undermining Governor Alia’s administration.
The Forum, in the statement signed by its Chairman, Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, expressed concern that Akume’s actions could destabilize the party in Benue State and the North-Central region, potentially jeopardizing APC’s chances in the 2027 elections.

“We warn the SGF, Senator George Akume, to stop further attacks on Governor Alia. These actions can destabilize the APC in Benue State and the North-Central region.
If the APC loses Benue in 2027 or if Governor Alia defects to another party, Akume will be held responsible,” the statement read.
The Forum highlighted Governor Alia’s performance in delivering governance and urged Akume to allow him to focus on providing the dividends of democracy without distractions.
The Forum also criticized Akume for alleged lopsided appointments favoring his Tiv ethnic group, calling on him to prioritize unity and inclusivity within the party in the North-Central zone.
Additionally, the group called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene and rein in Akume, warning that it would mobilize protests across the zone if the SGF does not stop interfering in Benue State politics.
“The Office of the SGF has been compromised due to Akume’s obsession with Governor Alia. If he cannot focus on his duties, he should resign, and President Tinubu should replace him,” the Forum stated.
The Forum urged Akume to prioritize his responsibilities as SGF and support the APC’s broader objectives, emphasizing the importance of unity ahead of the 2027 elections.
