The Northern Youth Network on Peace, a prominent advocacy group, has strongly criticised former All Progressives Congress (APC) Vice Chairman Dr Salihu Lukman over his recent remarks about President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
The group has accused Lukman of engaging in divisive politics and acting without the mandate to represent the interests of the Northern region.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Adaji Ajibili, the organisation’s spokesperson, expressed deep concern over Lukman’s statements, describing them as baseless and misleading.

Ajibili argued that Lukman’s comments not only lack substance but also demonstrate a fundamental misunderstanding of the current political landscape and the progress made under President Tinubu’s leadership.
“We have reached a point where Nigerians should no longer take Dr Salihu Lukman seriously,” Ajibili said.
“His assertions are not just groundless but also reflect a profound ignorance of the realities of President Bola Tinubu’s administration and its achievements.
Lukman’s remarks are driven by personal ambition rather than a genuine concern for the country’s welfare.”
Ajibili went on to urge Nigerians to be discerning and recognise Lukman’s motivations, which he characterised as self-serving.
According to Ajibili, Lukman’s recent outbursts are fuelled by frustration over his failure to secure a public office, which he feels entitled to despite his contentious role in past political events.
“It is clear that Dr Lukman is more focused on his personal ambitions than on the national interest,” Ajibili continued.
“His inability to secure a government position after the divisive part he played in the past seems to be the driving force behind his criticism.
Instead of contributing constructively to national discourse, he is resorting to complaints and baseless accusations.”
Ajibili also appealed directly to President Tinubu, urging him to disregard Lukman’s remarks, which he described as unrepresentative of the broader Northern sentiment.
He stressed that Lukman does not speak for the North and that his views are his alone, not reflective of the region’s stance on the Tinubu administration.
“The Northern Youth Network on Peace calls on President Tinubu to ignore Dr Salihu Lukman’s comments,” Ajibili asserted. “Lukman speaks only for himself and not for the North.
His views do not align with the sentiments or beliefs of the Northern people, who continue to support President Tinubu’s leadership.”
Ajibili highlighted the group’s confidence in President Tinubu’s ability to lead Nigeria to greater heights.
He commended the administration’s efforts in tackling the country’s challenges and driving socio-economic development, urging the public not to be swayed by what he described as the unfounded claims of disgruntled individuals.
“President Tinubu remains a contemporary leader with the vision and capacity to guide Nigeria towards progress and prosperity,” Ajibili stated. “The Northern Youth Network on Peace fully supports his administration and is committed to working towards national unity and development. We will not be distracted by the baseless criticisms of those who are dissatisfied with their personal circumstances.”
Ajibili concluded by calling for greater unity and cooperation among Nigerians, emphasising the importance of focusing on the country’s collective goals rather than being drawn into divisive politics.
He urged citizens to support leaders who are genuinely committed to the nation’s progress and to reject those who prioritise personal ambition over national interest.
“The time has come for Nigerians to rally behind leaders who are committed to the country’s future,” Ajibili concluded.
“We must reject divisive politics and focus on building a united and prosperous Nigeria. The Northern Youth Network on Peace stands firmly behind President Tinubu and his vision for our country.
We call on all Nigerians to join us in supporting a leadership that is dedicated to the common good.”
In a political climate often marked by intense rivalry and discord, the Northern Youth Network on Peace’s strong condemnation of Dr Salihu Lukman’s comments serves as a reminder of the need for responsible and constructive engagement in national discourse.
As the group continues to advocate for peace and unity, its stance reflects a broader call for stability and progress in Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.
