A public commentator, Alhaji Ahmed Bakare, has sent a red signal to the Zamfara State Governor, Hon. Bello Mohammed, saying that the call for state of emergency in the north would not solve the security problems in the north.

The commentator stated that the Governor has forgotten that the government pays the military and other security operatives in the north, lamenting that the Governor wants to end their jobs so as to increase insecurity in the north.

According to him, there is nobody that is above the power of the government unless the government does not want to act.

He quoted former Nigerian Head of State, late General Sani Abacha as saying that if a crisis persists in a society for more than 24 hours, the government has hands in it.

Alhaji Bakare maintained that the military and other security operatives in the north can end these banditry activities ravaging the north but they were not being given the chance to carry out their constitutional responsibility as protectors of lives and property.

He challenged Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle to give the military and other security operatives the power to carry out their constitutional responsibility and see if banditry activities would not end in the state within the shortest period.

“Nobody can run away from the reality and we all know that many people are seriously benefiting frоm these banditry activities in the state” he lamented.

“Why is it only the common masses that are suffering from these banditry activities? We need to look deeply into the matter to find out the truths”

“Even the government owes the citizens some explanation over why these banditry activities have continued to be worsening unabatedly by the day.

“There is no doubt that the north is seriously in a security problems because our so called leaders invoked the security challenges in the north.

“If these insecurity continues in the north, the region will even record the lowest outcome in 2023 general elections in the north because people would be afraid of losing their lives during the elections.”

He called on Matawalle and others to control their languages in order not to invoke another problem in the north.
