The Nigeria Population Commission (NPC) has recorded a total of 424,302 births in Gombe State between January and November.
Out of these births, 187,283 (44.13%) were girls, while 237,019 (55.86%) were boys.
Mr. Adedeji Adeniyi, the head of NPC’s Civil Registration and Vital Statistics in Gombe State, disclosed these statistics on Friday in Gombe.

He mentioned that the registrations were conducted across more than 100 registration centers in the state, covering children between the ages of 0 and 17 years.
Adeniyi further detailed that 76,900 of the registered births were children below the age of one year, with 33,760 being girls and 43,140 boys.
Additionally, there were 285,010 registrations for children aged one to four years, comprising 125,230 girls and 159,780 boys.
Lastly, the number of children aged four to 17 years stood at 62,392, with 28,293 girls and 34,099 boys.
In efforts to promote birth registration, Adeniyi highlighted that the NPC has intensified its measures and formed partnerships with key stakeholders in the state.
He noted that the commission has transitioned from the analogue mode of birth registration to a digital platform in collaboration with UNICEF, aiming to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the registration process.
