The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has dismissed a viral social media video suggesting a change in the Corps Members’ uniform, confirming that all issued items remain unchanged.
NYSC Director of Information and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, clarified in a statement that the items provided to Corps members during registration at the Orientation Camps are consistent with previous distributions.
He urged the public, especially prospective Corps members, to disregard the misleading TikTok video.

“Members of the public, especially Prospective Corps members, are hereby advised to disregard the misleading and highly embarrassing TikTok video in its entirety.
Efforts are ongoing on the distribution of uniforms and other essential items to all the 37 NYSC Orientation Camps across the country in preparation for the forthcoming 2024 Batch ‘B’ Stream One Orientation Course,” Megwa stated.
He highlighted recent improvements in the quality of materials used for Corps Members’ uniforms, approved by the Federal Government.
“This is already done, and Corps Members are already enjoying the improved quality,” he added.
Megwa also issued a stern warning to social media influencers against using the NYSC corporate brand in ways that could generate negative publicity.
“Social Media Influencers are strongly warned to desist forthwith from using the NYSC Corporate brand in any online medium that may attract negative publicity to the Scheme, while defaulters would be prosecuted according to legal provisions,” he concluded.
