Meeting delivery
OAU has issued a new mid-semester break to settle the upheavals of NASU in the university community. The management of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, has announced immediate closure of academic activities on campus after a Senate debriefing yesterday. The meeting was held as a result of the Non-Academic Staff Union protest for their unpaid allowances and other dividends held in abeyance by the management.
A notorious clog
The school which is always fingered with strike lingerie was last year July battling with astronomical increase of school fees. However, the protest which started last week has generated a lot of umbrage from the NASU members who are ready to fight the battle to finish.
Battle to finish
Presently, the university community is wallowing in utter darkness as the workers in charge have refused to boycott their workplace to join their members in pressing their demand home. Just last week, students have, out of fright, jumped the gate to carry on with lecture activities which held in some department.
A source who is also member of the union said the allowances have outrageous added up to thirty months and the union will not resume work until all the dividends are paid.
