The governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, has issued an order prohibiting public employees from utilizing official resources for private purposes.
After swearing in nine new permanent secretaries to the state civil service, the governor made this proclamation.
Declaring that “the conversion of government vehicles and facilities to personal use and services at the expense of government work is hereby banned,” he ordered that “all government vehicles and facilities shall be used exclusively for government work.”

Buni issued a directive requiring all government vehicles to be utilized only for official business.
“The Secretary to the State Government, Head of Service, and Permanent Secretaries are hereby directed to ensure compliance,” he said.
He added that the government would not stand for the waste or diversion of public funds used to undermine service delivery.
“As we undertake our second and final term of office, we will ensure that government resources are judiciously and effectively used to improve the welfare of our people,” he pledged.
