The historic town of Ogere Remo in Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State is preparing to mark the Golden Jubilee of its annual Lipakala Day celebration, with the Grand Finale scheduled for Saturday, 17 October 2026, at Wesley Primary School Playground, Ogere Remo, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
The landmark celebration marks 50 years since Lipakala Day was established in 1976, bringing together traditional rulers, government officials, community leaders, residents, business organisations and indigenes in the diaspora to celebrate the town’s cultural heritage, unity and development achievements.
The celebration will take place under the royal blessing of His Royal Majesty (HRM), Oba James Obafemi Saliu (Kankanbina III, Arole Olipakala, Ologere of Ogere), and is being anchored and coordinated by the Ogere Community Development Association (OCDA), in collaboration with the Ologere-in-Council and the sons and daughters of Ogere Remo, both at home and abroad.

Major highlights of the Golden Jubilee include the planned launch of a ₦2.5 billion infrastructure development fund and the official public unveiling of the Ogere Remo Community Website, OgereRemo.com, alongside cultural festivities and other community development activities.
Celebrating 50 Years of Cultural Heritage and Unity
Lipakala Day is one of Ogere Remo’s most important annual cultural and community development celebrations. Established in 1976, the festival honours the town’s founders and ancestral figures, particularly Olipakala, his wife and co-warrior Yemogun, and Lowa-Lida, who contributed to the community’s early development.
Over the past five decades, the celebration has evolved into a platform for preserving cultural traditions, strengthening relationships among indigenes at home and abroad, recognising community achievements and mobilising resources for development projects.
The Golden Jubilee carries the message, “Honouring our founders, uniting our people and building the future,” reflecting the community’s commitment to preserving its history while creating opportunities for future generations.
Grand Finale to Attract Royal Fathers and Distinguished Guests
The Grand Finale is expected to attract prominent personalities from government, traditional institutions, professional organisations and the wider Remo community.
Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, is expected as Chief Host, while Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola and Honourable Oladipupo Adebutu are among the invited Special Guests of Honour.
Dr Victor Alonge, immediate past President of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers, is expected to chair the occasion.
Other distinguished traditional rulers expected at the celebration include the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, and the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, who are expected as Royal Fathers of the Day.
The celebration will feature traditional cultural displays, the Woro procession, entertainment, recognition of community partners and the popular Ikokore, Pepper Soup and Asun Night, showcasing the rich cultural and culinary traditions of Ogere Remo.
₦2.5 Billion Infrastructure Development Fund to Be Launched
A major feature of the Golden Jubilee is the planned launch of a ₦2.5 billion infrastructure development fund aimed at supporting the long-term growth and development of Ogere Remo.
The initiative seeks to mobilise financial support from indigenes, businesses, community associations, development partners and other stakeholders to advance infrastructure improvements and community development priorities.
The fundraising initiative reflects the longstanding role of Lipakala Day in supporting projects that benefit residents, improve local infrastructure and strengthen the town’s economic and social development.
Organisers are encouraging individuals, families, age groups, clubs, businesses and community organisations to participate through sponsorships, donations and partnerships.
OgereRemo.com Community Website to Be Officially Unveiled
The Golden Jubilee will also mark an important milestone in the town’s digital development, with the official public unveiling of the Ogere Remo Community Website, OgereRemo.com.
The platform has been developed to serve as a central online resource for information about Ogere Remo, including its history, cultural heritage, traditional institutions, community organisations, development initiatives, businesses, events and news.
It is also intended to strengthen communication among residents and indigenes worldwide, preserve historical information, promote local businesses and cultural tourism, and encourage greater participation in community development.
The public unveiling will represent an important step towards improving the town’s digital visibility and making information about its heritage and development initiatives more accessible to the wider public.
Golden Jubilee Activities Showcase Culture, Education and Community Development
The Golden Jubilee programme spans 8 to 18 October 2026, featuring activities designed to engage different generations and sections of the community.
The programme includes environmental sanitation, a sensitisation rally, religious activities, youth empowerment, the Miss Lipakala Beauty Pageant, Artisans’ Day, inter-school debates and traditional Egungun and Agemo displays.
Other highlights include the Lipakala Day Symposium, Cultural Night, free medical check-ups, a baby show exhibition, indoor games and the Dr Olatunde Ayedun Agbato Football Competition.
The celebrations will also feature a marathon race, ram contest, musical entertainment and traditional festivities leading up to the Grand Finale on Saturday, 17 October.
A Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, 18 October 2026, will formally conclude the Golden Jubilee celebrations.
Strengthening Community Development and Diaspora Engagement
Beyond the cultural festivities, the 50th Lipakala Day anniversary provides an opportunity to strengthen relationships between Ogere Remo and its diaspora communities.
Over the years, indigenes living outside Nigeria have contributed to community development through financial support, professional expertise, cultural engagement and participation in local initiatives.
The anniversary offers a platform for renewed collaboration among traditional institutions, community organisations, businesses and other development stakeholders.
With the planned infrastructure development fund and public unveiling of the community website, the 2026 celebration represents both a reflection on five decades of community achievements and an opportunity to advance Ogere Remo’s future development ambitions.
Residents, indigenes and friends of Ogere Remo are invited to participate in the historic celebration and contribute to initiatives supporting the town’s continued growth.
Further information about the anniversary, including the programme of activities and participation opportunities, is available on the official 50th Lipakala Day Anniversary 2026 page.
