Supreme Agro Limited
66, an agro-processing company located in Igbesa, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State, was closed by the state government.
The state government justified the move by saying it was committed to provide a setting free from all potential dangers.
There have been allegations that the corporation has engaged in massive amounts of industrial pollution, wreaking havoc on the local ecosystem.

The Ogun State Environmental Task Force received multiple complaints from the Igbesa host community and conducted follow-up verifications and warnings.
Despite the firm’s denials, the Commissioner for Environment, Ola Oresanya, stated the company was found guilty of industrial pollution because it dumps its untreated effluent into the community, negatively impacting the health of the locals.
The Commissioner has stated that the company discharged its wastewater directly into the community, creating an eyesore and negatively impacting the environment, rather than installing effluent plants to contain the wastewater and remove hazardous components before discharging it to surrounding water bodies.
Oresanta called the behavior as, “very selfish and callous” on the part of the firm because the wastewater had harmful components such as heavy metals in it as well as carcinogenic compounds and chemicals which are detrimental to the population, leading to needless deaths.
Oresanya emphasized that the business would remain closed unless it made environmental improvements, adopted more responsible production practices, and involved the local community in the cleanup efforts.
The Igbesa Traditional Council was applauded by the Commissioner for alerting state authorities to the company’s unethical environmental activities.
