
A new historical chapter was opened at 4.15pm on Sunday, September 30, 2018 for the Ogun State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the Chairman, House Committee on Rural Committee, Hon (Dr) Oladipupo Adebutu emerged the flag-bearer of the party in the 2019 Ogun State gubernatorial election.
At the primaries held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Adebutu scored 2,369 votes. Having satisfied the party’s requirements, Captain William Hart, Chairman of the Electoral Committee, declared Adebutu the winner.
The jubilation that rented the air after Adebutu’s declaration as the PDP candidate was, indeed, a clear testimony of the desire of the Ogun people to breath a fresh air. The moment further cemented the much expectations of the people to be liberated from the shackles of poverty and retrogression as witnessed in the governance of the state in the last seven and half years.
Captain Hart commended the delegates for their orderliness and comportion. He said PDP is known for transparency and respect for constitutional dictates.
The Ogun State PDP Chairman, Hon Sikirulai Ogundele, remarked that the victory of Adebutu is the beginning of the end of retrogressive governance in the state.
Other members of the National Electoral Panel included Mr Anthony Agbetuyi, Mr Emmanuel Ekpe, Miss Bukola Oyinkansola and Miss Barbara Aloma (Secretary).
Join Me To Make Ogun State Work Again – Adebutu
In his acceptance speech, Hon Ladi Adebutu, expressed gratitude to the national leadership for upholding the tenets of democracy. He commended the electoral panel and Ogun State PDP for the success of the primaries saying it was a clear demonstration of internal democracy in the party.
Revealing his agenda for the people of Ogun State, Hon Adebutu x-rayed the state of affairs in the gateway state and posited that Ogun people made a huge unintentional mistake in their choice in 2011.
He x-rayed the unbearable economic situation in the state, the worsening insecurity of lives and properties where people live in unending palpable fear, the deplorable conditions of roads, fallen standard of education, neglect of civil servants’ welfare, increasing rate of unemployment, dilapidated schools and hospitals infrastructures and total collapse of local government administration among others.
From a careful observation, he concluded that Ogun State needed to be salvaged urgently.
“Our dear Ogun State is in dire need of urgent surgical rescue in view of the retrogression that has been witnessed in the last few years” he said.
Adebutu, however, urged the people to be ready for positive transformation and progressive development adding that his desire to be a servant was premised on his burning determination to ensure quality life for the good people of Ogun State and reduce poverty to its bearest minimum.
“We must leave this wilderness of underdevelopment and move to the oasis of peace, good governance and rapid development of our dear State”.
The federal lawmaker while calling on the people to join him to make Ogun State work again, presented his 10-point Agenda for a prosperous Ogun State.
With your support and the mandate of our people, a government headed by me shall with the utmost urgency undertake and provide high quality, sustainable infrastructure across the state while innovative sources of funding these critical assets shall be developed.
