On September 30, the Ogun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal will issue its ruling on the challenge to Dapo Abiodun’s election as governor submitted by Ladi Adebutu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
After parties adopted their last written addresses and the tribunal reserved judgement on September 4, as previously reported by the media.
The tribunal presided over by Hamidu Kunaza pledged to notify the parties of the upcoming date of judgement delivery.
Counsel for the petitioners and the respondents were informed by the tribunal on Thursday that a decision would be rendered on Saturday, as reported by our reporter.
Our correspondent was able to confirm with Afolabi Orekoya, the media aide for the first petitioner, Adebutu, that decision would be handed down on September 30.
Afolabi responded, “Yes, it is true,” when asked if the PDP lawyer had been informed that the tribunal’s decision will be announced on Saturday.
Adebutu claims that the governor’s election in Ogun State on March 18 was not conducted in accordance with the electoral act, and he is asking the tribunal to proclaim him the winner.
