Charles Okah, who is charged with treason for his role in the October 1st, 2010, explosion in Abuja, has sued prison authorities to court for alleged infringement of his right to life. He is asking the court to grant him N500million compensation.
Okah based his claims on the ground that the prison authorities, without thinking about his safety, him inside a solitary cell while the cell was being fumigated.
According to him, as a result of the chemicals he inhaled from the fumigation, he became nauseous, weak and was finding it difficult to breath.
Okah said despite his state of health, he was not given drugs to treat himself and that when his wife brought the drugs prescribed for him, the prisons authorities seized the drugs.
His attorney, Barrister Festus Keyamo had also in January alleged attempt to kill Okah following refusal by prison officials to administer High Blood Pressure drugs to him.
