Super Eagles vice-captain, Ogenyi Onazi is certain the three-time African champions will bounce back strong and return to the apex of African football.
Nigeria failed to qualify for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations despite emerging champions at the previous edition in South Africa two years earlier.
“I want to tell Nigerians that they have to be patient because anytime we play a game, they don’t know the difficulties that we pass through.
“When we finish the game, people (begin to criticize the team).
“We usually don’t listen to such things because we know our jobs and we know what we can do.
“The coach also knows what he’s doing. Nigerians just need to give the team some time.
“Patience is all we ask for and I bet you, this team will (achieve heights) Nigerians don’t expect,” Onazi said shortly after Nigeria completed a 2-0 aggregate win over Swaziland in 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifying.
The Super Eagles have yet to lose competitively under new coach, Sunday Oliseh.
