Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has pledged to serve the people diligently following his victory in Saturday’s governorship election.
Speaking to journalists in Akure, the state capital, after being declared winner, Aiyedatiwa expressed gratitude to the people of Ondo for renewing his mandate.
“I thank the people of Ondo for the renewed mandate given to me to be their governor beyond 2025, and I promise to serve them,” he said.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced Aiyedatiwa, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the winner after he secured the highest number of votes in the election.
The incumbent governor defeated Ajayi Agboola of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olorunfemi Festus of the Labour Party (LP), Abbas Mimiko of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), and other candidates.
According to the INEC Returning Officer, Prof. Akinwumi Olayemi Durotimi, who is also the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Lokoja, Aiyedatiwa garnered 366,781 votes.
His closest rival, Ajayi, of the PDP, scored 117,845 votes, while the Labour Party received 1,162 votes.
