Virgil van Dijk is the only Liverpool player that will get into Manchester United’s 1999 treble-winning team, according to former Red Devils assistant coach, Steve McClaren.
Steve believes that despite having other world-class players like Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Alisson, only the huge CB would earn a spot in that legendary Man Utd team.
According to him, Virgil van Dijk next to Jaap Stam in the same team would be very rocky and strikers will be unable to breach it.
He added that the historic Manchester United XI had leaders all over the team and it made them win lots of trophies.
His words, “Virgil van Dijk next to Jaap Stam, that would be invincible,”
“But for me, seriously, only Van Dijk would get into that team. When you look at that Manchester United team, that is leadership throughout the whole team, and leadership was the key. Liverpool are developing that now.”
