The Organised Labour, comprising the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), has rejected a fresh minimum wage proposal by the Nigerian Government.
According to Channels Television, the Federal Government offered to pay N60,000 as the new minimum wage, which was promptly rejected by Organised Labour.
Labour had initially proposed N615,000 as the new minimum wage but reduced their demand to N497,000 last week and further to N494,000 on Tuesday.

A prominent member of the Tripartite Committee for the negotiation of a new minimum wage revealed that the Federal Government and the Organised Private Sector side of the talks proposed a N60,000 monthly minimum wage, up from the N57,000 tabled last week when negotiations resumed.
InfoStride News recalls that the government had previously proposed N48,000 and later N54,000, both of which were rejected by Organised Labour.
The Tripartite Committee is yet to agree on a new minimum wage with only three days remaining before the May 31 deadline set by the labour unions.
