Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun State, has come under fire from the state’s All Progressives Congress, APC, for selecting himself to the position of Commissioner of Works.
The Osun APC also said that placing “square pegs in round holes” while assigning commissioners to various ministries was detrimental.
On Thursday in Osogbo, the party’s Osun Chairman Tajudeen Lawal issued a statement warning that it will cause an immediate enormous calamity.

Lawal questioned the governor’s decision to nominate himself as commissioner and came to the conclusion that it was motivated by greed and a lack of respect for ethics and transparency in government.
The true identity of the Commissioner for Works has been revealed, he said. He refrained from disclosing her name because he was afraid of the crowd’s reaction.
Since the beginning of this administration, has the governor not been invited and shown where he would append his signature without knowing the contents of the files while the unnamed commissioner for works treats them in the company of the governor’s chaperon in her Ede country home?
Adeleke’s appointment of the deputy governor to lead the Ministry of Sports and Social Needs is puzzling, as it is not due to a lack of qualified individuals who contributed to the party’s electoral success through questionable means.
To any reasonable person, the governor’s decision to place lawyers in charge of the Ministry of Education and Health is rife with justification.
While we wish the newly appointed commissioners well in their new roles, we maintain that the people of this state deserve exactly the governor and state executive they have.
However, it would be inappropriate not to note that “few of the commissioners on the list have distinguished themselves in their chosen fields, and it is impossible for about three commissioners to write down correctly the name of their assigned ministries.”
On Wednesday, as reported by Infostride News, Governor Adeleke swore in 25 commissioners and three permanent secretaries, instructing them to make public service their first priority.
The Governor’s Office now oversees the Ministry of Works, while Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi’s Office is responsible for the Ministry of Sport and Special Needs.
