The All Progressives Congress, APC, Congress Appeal Committee for Osun State has upheld the results of the recently concluded Osun APC State congress.
The Chairman of the five-man Osun APC Appeal Committee, Ambassador Obed Wadzani made this known during a press briefing on Sunday at the state party secretariat in Osogbo.
Ambassador Wadzani also revealed that despite a report of a parallel State Congress in the State, the five-man Appeal Panel did not receive any petition since its inauguration on October 21 by the leadership of the party at the National Secretariat, Abuja.
The Appeal Committee Chairman disclosed that the decision to endorse the results of the October 16 state congress conducted and supervised by Gbenga Elegbeleye State Congress Committee was done in the absence of any appeal.
Wadzani also stated that the appeal committee has the mandate of the party’s national secretariat to examine any petition arising from the state congress.
While stressing that the appeal committee was the only mechanism put in place by the party leadership for aggrieved party members to seek redress on any issue related to the Osun APC state congress, he disclosed that since there was no petition, they will have to report what has been recorded.
In his words, “We owe it a duty to make a report back to the National Secretariat of our party in line with the purpose to which we have been mandated to come. I have with me the list of the newly elected officers of the party and this will be part of the report of the Appeal Committee that will be submitted to the National Secretariat, Abuja.”
Earlier, in his welcome address, the APC State Chairman-elect, Gboyega Famodun promised to put in place workable mechanisms that would strengthen the unity and togetherness among members and loyalists of the party.
He also expressed his readiness to embark on an immediate reconciliatory process to reunite aggrieved members of the party.
