The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has cautioned the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against allegedly whipping up sentiments to gain undue public sympathy amid the ongoing local government crisis in the state.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the APC, through its Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, insisted that its members were only acting in line with the landmark judgment of the Court of Appeal, Akure Division, which reinstated elected APC chairmen and councillors.
The statement accused the PDP, led by its state chairman, Sunday Bisi, and Governor Ademola Adeleke, of being the aggressors in the crisis.

It alleged that Governor Adeleke had mobilized his supporters to attack APC members across the state, while Bisi was frequently insulting President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola.
“Such behaviour does not demonstrate strength of character but instead exposes his weakness, showing a lack of essential upbringing, which has now become his stock-in-trade,” the statement read.
Olabisi condemned Bisi’s remarks as “crocodile tears,” insisting they would not prevent security agencies from bringing to justice those responsible for the killings of APC members.
“Does the embattled state PDP chairman want to tell the good people of Osun State that it was not his party’s hired thugs who killed our serving chairman of Irewole Local Government Council, Hon. Remi Abass, in a coordinated attack on Monday in Ikire?” the APC queried.
The party further alleged that an Executive Director in the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Abuja, Engr. Remi Omowaiye, and Hon. Tobi Famurewa narrowly escaped an attack by armed thugs linked to Governor Adeleke, after their vehicle was riddled with bullets.
Olabisi also accused Bisi of attacking the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, for enforcing the law, citing Section 287(2) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which mandates authorities to uphold Court of Appeal rulings.
“The IGP cannot be faulted for upholding the law. How does this statutory role amount to an alleged plot to assassinate the Osun State governor? Such reckless and baseless accusations exist only in the imagination of someone whose reasoning is influenced by a hard substance,” the statement added.
Earlier, the Osun PDP had accused the IGP of plotting to assassinate Governor Adeleke and attempting to destabilize the state by deploying special police forces to escort “miscreants” into local government secretariats.
The allegations come amid heightened tensions over the local government crisis in Osun State.
