The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has rejected allegations that ghost voters and hired voters were used during the recently concluded Osun State governorship election.
The commission described the claims as unfounded, stressing that the electoral process was conducted in accordance with established procedures and safeguards designed to prevent manipulation.

INEC maintained that measures were put in place to ensure that only eligible voters participated in the election.
The commission also dismissed allegations that individuals were recruited or paid to vote for particular candidates, saying such claims should be supported with credible evidence.
According to INEC, the use of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and other verification measures helped to authenticate voters and reduce the possibility of electoral fraud.
The commission urged political parties, candidates and their supporters to refrain from making unsubstantiated allegations capable of undermining confidence in the electoral process.
INEC called on stakeholders with specific complaints to present evidence through the appropriate channels rather than relying on claims that could create unnecessary tension.
The commission reiterated its commitment to transparency and accountability in the conduct of elections, assuring Nigerians that complaints arising from the Osun poll would be addressed in accordance with the law.
It also urged political actors to accept the outcome of the election or seek legal redress where they have genuine grievances.
