The governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has asked for help from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFund, to improve the state’s higher education institutions’ physical facilities.
Adeleke made these remarks on Friday in Abuja, while paying a visit to TETFund Executive Secretary Sonny Echono.
The Governor, who is concerned about the State’s declining educational standards, deemed a visit to the area essential.

Adeleke praised TETFund for its role in bringing attention to higher education and claimed that almost all improvements to universities could be traced back to the organization.
“Let me begin by praising TETFund for the outstanding work that it is doing all over Nigeria. Any governor worth their salt should applaud TETFund’s efforts so that they may continue helping even more organizations.
“In Osun State, we have benefited much from TETFund in terms of our state’s physical facilities.
To paraphrase, “I am here for the support from TETFund for Osun State and to ask for more because we still need a lot of support as our education has really dropped.”
In response, Echono argued that higher education had a unique impact on the politics and future of any given nation.
However, he emphasized the need of investing in higher education, where new ideas, inventiveness, and entrepreneurial spirit tend to flourish.
Since the highest levels of productivity, innovation, and effect occur at the tertiary level, “we believe strongly that tertiary education plays a special role in the affairs and even the destiny of any country.”
“At that level, innovation, creativity, and enterprise are at their pinnacle, whether in terms of new ideas, new goods and services, or better methods of doing things.
Whether in healthcare or the media, “it is that body of knowledge of expertise that services the various sectors of every economy,” he said.
