The Osun State chapter of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has cautioned the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Umar Ganduje, against making comments that could destabilize the Southwest region.
The warning follows Ganduje’s statement during a visit to Akure, Ondo State, on Sunday, where he expressed confidence that the APC would secure victories in Oyo and Osun states in future elections.
This came after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the APC the winner of the Ondo governorship election.

In a statement issued on Monday in Osogbo, Tosin Odeyemi, Chairman of the Osun NNPP, criticized Ganduje’s remarks, describing them as reckless and unbefitting of an elder statesman, especially given the economic hardships Nigerians are currently facing under APC’s leadership.
“One would have expected Dr. Ganduje to demonstrate better communication skills befitting his position.
With the economic challenges Nigerians are facing, who would willingly vote for the APC? Ganduje should not be carried away by what transpired in Ondo State,” Odeyemi stated.
He emphasized the need for peaceful elections in Osun, noting that the people of the state are wise and peace-loving. “Each party must allow voters to decide freely.
Ganduje must not turn the Southwest into a war zone. Spoken words carry weight, and 2026 must be crisis-free in Osun,” he added.
Odeyemi further challenged Ganduje to prove the APC’s popularity in his home state, pointing out that the NNPP had previously defeated the APC there by a significant margin.
