The South West Coordinator of Positive Thinkers and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, Sunday Akinjimi, has asked the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State and Governor Adegboyega Oyetola to bury their heads in shame for glorifying themselves despite their poor record of performance.

In a statement made available to the media on Monday, Akinjimi accused the APC of blowing its own trumpet by erecting a billboard which was facilitated by the Commissioner for Education, Folorunso Bamisayemi, at Garage Olode in Ife South Local Government Area.

The billboard, according to Akinjimi, carried a message describing Oyetola as a silent achiever and crediting him for restoring electricity supply to Garage Olode town after a decade of blackout.

Reacting to the message on the billboard, he lambasted the administration for celebrating such an achievement after eleven uninterrupted years in the saddle.

Noting that it was a failure on the part of the government, Akinjimi reminded the Oyetola administration that Ife South had the highest landmass capable of making it the food basket of Osun and also that it harbours the largest thicket and timber reserve.

The PDP chieftain decried the inability of the state government to provide students and teaching staffs with conducive classrooms, staff and rest rooms

According to him, “Despite all having the Commissioner of Education from the local government and having all these natural resources, students were still receiving lectures and writing exams in dilapidated blocks of classrooms, while some secondary schools don’t even have teachers’ staff room, and restrooms.

“A good evidence is Ayeoba Grammar School in Ife South and I am sure this also applies to many other places within the state.

“This is an attestation that the APC led Administration by the State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola has failed the masses in so many areas, most especially in the educational sector. APC had been ruling Osun in the past eleven years and they cannot be bold enough to point to any model school constructed under their watch.

“I want the people of Osun to know that APC has failed us due to their poor performance and in delivering good governance. They have no idea of how to pilot the affairs of our dear state to a greater height.”

Akinjimi urged the people to partake in the ongoing Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) in order to get themselves prepared to vote out the APC in the 2022 gubernatorial election in the state.
