The Osun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of suspects in connection with the killing of Olalekan Oyeyemi, popularly known as Emir Ajagungbade, an ally of Governor Ademola Adeleke.

Oyeyemi was killed on September 13, 2026, during a clash at Mayfair Motor Park in Ile-Ife, Osun State. The incident reportedly occurred amid a dispute over the leadership of the state’s motor park system.
The police confirmed that some suspects had been arrested as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the killing continued.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, said the investigation was ongoing and that the identities and status of the suspects would be clarified as more information became available.
The killing had prompted Governor Adeleke to direct the police to arrest those responsible and investigate the circumstances surrounding Oyeyemi’s death. The governor also ordered measures to address the dispute over the management of motor parks in the state.
Oyeyemi, an Accord Party chieftain and political associate of the governor, was reportedly involved in activities linked to the proposed restructuring of the management of motor parks in Osun before his death.
Meanwhile, the Osun State Amotekun Corps has clarified reports concerning some of its personnel in connection with the investigation.
The corps said its commander, Isaac Omoyele, voluntarily handed over four operatives attached to NURTW chieftain Alowonle Nurudeen to the police to assist investigations into the Ile-Ife attacks and Oyeyemi’s death.
The corps stressed that the operatives were not arrested by the police, urging the public and media practitioners to distinguish between an arrest and a voluntary handover for investigation.
The Amotekun Corps urged the public to allow the police investigation to run its course and avoid drawing premature conclusions over the involvement of any individual.
The police investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to establish the circumstances surrounding Oyeyemi’s death and determine those responsible for the incident.
