Mauricio Pochettino has refused to answer questions on new signing Lucas Moura after the 2-0 win over Manchester United, instead praising his players for “one of the best” performances at Wembley.
“The performance was fantastic, we played so well. The team deserves credit, the level was fantastic. We played a great team and reduced the gap to the top four.
“The team played so well. I’m pleased with that. I’m so happy. The team deserves a lot of praise.”
“We prepare to play in the opposite half from the beginning. We try to be aggressive. We wanted to play in the opposite half, dominate the game, put pressure on them. I’m happy it happened after 10 seconds but that is football.
“The action that is so important to see is Christian Eriksen’s — the belief, the run is fantastic. There’s no waiting — to decide, anticipate, to read the action is so important. That is one to show the academy players on video.
“The performance was fantastic, great, I’m so pleased with that. I congratulate our players — they deserve full credit. Be sure it’s one of the best [performances] at Wembley, I don’t know if the best.
“The most important thing now is to keep going, be consistent. It will not be easy to keep this type of performance up. We play every three or four days, and we’re going to need the whole squad. Now we rest, assess players and take best decisions for the match against Liverpool [on Sunday]. For me, they are one of the best teams in England.
“We need all in a good mental and physical condition. Be sure we’re going to use the squad, maybe rotate, maybe not, but we’re going to use the squad.”
