Former Nigerian coach, Kadiri Ikhana has charged the Dream Team VI to keep tightly to their tactics against Germany.
The Nigerian U23 side will confront the European giants in Wednesday’s Rio Olympic football semifinals clash at the Arena Corinthians in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Ikhana said though the Germans have a dominant and progressive football culture the nation’s campaigners can still go ahead to upset the bookmakers predictions.
“Judging from the Dream Team VI past performances except the last group game against Colombia they have proven to be compact, disciplined, highly tactical and tight side.
“The only minus compared with their semifinals opponents, Germany is that they have not played together as a team for a long time prior to the Olympics.
“Germany have football culture and tradition that see young players graduate to the senior cadre.
“However, that plus does not count always in football and may count for nothing against the Nigerians.
“I think the Nigerians must work hard to bring to par the defence with other departments which are quite okay.
“I believe their tactics is okay so far so they cannot afford to change the trend against Germany.
“The Dream Team VI are playing well just need to further up their game given the quality of opposition.
“They must attack and make sure they recover quite well to fence off the expected counter attack from the Germans.
“They must observe past mistakes especially the errors that caused them the game against Colombia and make sure it does not repeat itself against Germany.
“Our chances are bright to overcome the German hurdle,” said the former Enyimba and Kano Pillars coach.
Winners of the clash will progress to the final of the quadrennial multi-sport showpiece in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
