On Thursday, the Court of Appeal upheld the election of Jibrin Isah, who is affiliated with the All Progressives Congress (APC), to the position of senator for Kogi East.
Isah was deemed to be the victor in the election for the Kogi East Senatorial District by INEC; however, the candidate for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Victor Adoji, who came in second place in the election, contested the return of Isah before the tribunal on the grounds that elections were canceled in several polling units.
Adoji requested with the tribunal to overturn the win of Isah and order a supplementary election in the 94 polling units in the senatorial district that were affected by the election irregularities.

In the most recent general election, there were 94 polling units that had anomalies, and the tribunal, which was led by Justice K.A. Orjiako, decided unanimously to order a rerun of the election in those polling units.
Isah, on the other hand, took issue with the ruling handed down by the lower court and appealed it.
In a decision that was handed down on Thursday, the Court of Appeal overturned the verdict that had been reached by the lower court, thereby upholding the appellant’s triumph.
