Patience Key emerged victorious in the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) primary election held on Saturday, ahead of the September 21 governorship election in Edo State.
Key, who was adopted by party members and delegates, secured the nomination at the PRP secretariat in Benin.
The primary election was witnessed by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

In her acceptance speech, Key expressed gratitude to the party for entrusting her with the monumental responsibility.
She described their confidence in her vision and capabilities as an honor and a call to action.
“As we stand on the cusp of a historic election, I am reminded of the immense responsibility that comes with this trust.
We envision an Edo state where economic diversification will fuel our growth in agriculture, technology, and tourism,” she said.
Key outlined her vision for Edo State, highlighting her commitment to ensuring access to quality education, healthcare, and economic opportunities for all citizens.
She emphasized the importance of empowering women and youth, stating that their participation would be critical to her human capital development strategy.
Furthermore, Key pledged to leverage the expertise of the diaspora community to develop the state, promising an inclusive governance approach.
“As we gear up for the governorship election, I call upon each one of you to stand with us.
Together, we can realize a vision of Edo State that is not only rich in natural and economic resources but also in the talents and potentials of its people,” she added.
Patience Ndidi Key is a healthcare professional, entrepreneur, strategist, and President of the Nigerians in Diaspora Chamber of Commerce.
She previously served as the chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Organizations, Americas (USA). Key hails from Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State.
