Enyimba of Aba Coach, Paul Aigbogun, says Samson Siasia’s appointment as Super Eagles coach is a correct move aimed at salvaging the national team.
Aigbogun told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Port Harcourt on Monday that Siasia was qualified to handle the team, especially in an emergency situation.
“I think it’s a good appointment, considering the time to the game; it makes no sense to bring somebody who does not know the terrain.
“It will be a waste of time to bring somebody new,” he said.
Aigbogun, whose team, Enyimba, beat Vipers of Uganda, 2-0 to qualify for the second round of CAF Champions league, said Siasia had worked with Salisu Yusuf in the past.
He said Siasia’s success would depend on his ability to pick the right players to prosecute the double header against Egypt. The coach expressed optimism that Siasia would succeed because he had respect of the players and they were determined to give him good results.
